During 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed customers and therefore, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, since the demand for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. Like for example, Genie went into manufacturing stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values because of the economic downturn during the start of the 2000s, when they partnered together with Terex. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers all over the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie equipment continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machines.
The DC and Bi-Energy equipment offered by Genie provide quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work environments. Where the equipment must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machinery with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach overall. These machinery are great for limited access places in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These equipment provide the drive speed and supreme traction you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
