The forklift is an important piece of machinery in most businesses that operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. This wonder machinery, the lift truck is made of various parts, like the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Forklifts usually have a variety of attachments too. The following are some of the most important lift truck parts.



Engine of the Forklift - the lift truck is designed with a power source at the rear of the machine. Various types of lift trucks have various kinds of engine that require varying power sources. For instance, a forklift with an internal combustion engine could have any of the following as its source of power: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.



Truck Frame - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the lift truck components. This forms the equipment's core. All other forklift components are attached to the base, including the mast, wheels, axles counterweight and overhead guard. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks could be part of the frame assembly as well.



Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - the counterweight is what allows the machine to be balanced while carrying heavy loads. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the backend of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck gives balance and may work as part of the counterweight.



The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks will sometimes have closed cabs while others would be open to the air. There are really numerous parts situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components as the seats, pedals, switches, levers, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
