Rough Terrain Forklift

The rough terrain forklift is best for applications at construction sites and various environments where there is no paved surface. This kind of forklift is utilized to transport materials around lumberyards.

These forklifts are designed for rough terrain. However, the equipment is top heavy and should be handled carefully in rough areas. The equipment must be level with all tires on the ground when lifting.

At faster speeds, steering is harder. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not set speed limitations on forklifts. Nonetheless, operators are responsible for operating forklifts at a safe speed, specially when driving on rough terrain and when turning.

To avoid a tip over, never lift a load while operating on an incline. The load needs to be on the equipment's uphill drive if driving up a slope. If driving down a slope, it is good safety practice to back down.
